SSAA Para Working Bee – 16th and 17th of October

SSAA Para Working Bee

As a friendly reminder, SSAA Para will be holding our annual working bee on the 16th and 17th of October.
We will look at starting each day at 9am. All ranges will be closed for shooting over this weekend. 

Jobs to be done include:
  1. Erecting the new timber baffle on the top range
  2. Rebuilding the sleeper bunker at the 300m line on the main range
  3. Installation of the steel speed hump on the roadway
  4. Moving the gate location on the main range
  5. Adjusting the gutter on the main range
  6. Cleaning all the gutters in preparation for fire season
  7.  Replacing the cladding on the baffle posts (pistol range 1 and 2)
  8. Install he secondary door to the powder magazine
  9. Replace carpet on 50m turning target range back stop
  10. Repair backstops on pistol and rifle ranges
  11. Relocate tyres on field target range
  12. shift red flag on field target range
  13. wiper snip vegetation / lawn mowing in preparation for fire season
  14. Cut up fallen tree near main gate
  15. general section repairs and range clean ups (we will have a bin to fill)
  16. Weeding and poising of vegetation near magazine bunkers
  17. General painting
Tools to bring
  • Safety equipment (gloves, hearing protection, eye glasses, enclosed shoes)
  • Carpentry tool
  • Power tools 
  • Garden tools – rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, 
  • Trailers to move the car tyres and rubbish
  • ladders to clean gutters

Club Safety Course

Members wishing to complete this course are requested to register their interest in attending must contact the safety course trainer. SSAA Para Safety Course Trainer can be contacted on 0400152150 or email – grnsmith@bigpond.com.

Attendance Registration form is to be completed and sent back to the trainer.

Normal courses will be held on Wednesday evenings, commencing at 6:00pm sharp every six to eight weeks when demand exists. 

Persons seeking to obtain their initial licence through this course or a variation to an existing licence MUST bring their letter from SAPOL authorizing their attendance at the course. To obtain a letter please visit your local police station and ask for a licence application or licence variation form.  

Please read the Para Range Rules on the website or in the front of the program booklet prior to the course. PLEASE BRING A BLACK ballpoint pen and your SAPOL letter where applicable. 

The next Safety Courses will be held on:  10th February, 7th April,  16th June, 4th August, 6th October and 8th December 2021
Bookings must be made with the Safety Course Trainer prior to attendance. 
 
 
Extra Information for Handgun Shooters 
  • Members who have joined after the 1st of July 2017 and wanting to obtain a handgun licence, MUST also have supplied a copy of a national police clearance to the secretary. If one has already been supplied when joining the club then this requirement is met. 
  • Handgun shooters will also need to complete 6 shoots with one of our pistol sections. Please have a look through the club sections to find one that will suit your interests.
